Happy New Year Everyone!
I know I’m a bit late as we’re now into February! Thank you everyone for making my fall a wonderful and successful season! I hope you all are enjoying your portraits as much as I enjoyed creating them for you.
I have some really exciting news! I recently completed and passed all the requirements - 20 image submission review and a 100 question comprehensive technical written exam for certification. I am proud to announce I am a Certified Professional Photographer!
Since October I have been studying for the Professional Photographers Certification exam and image submission review. I took a very intensive three day review class in San Antonio this past month. This class covered all of the technical aspects of photography such as the Inverse Square Law, Equivalents, Digital sensor, Color Management, Composition, Lighting Ratios, the Color Wheel, Subtractive/Additive colors, filters, The Zone System, Histograms, Focal Length of different lenses, Guide numbers, illuminance/luminance, spot/reflective metering……AHHHHHHH! My head was ready to explode!
Certification for me was a personal goal I set for myself last year.
“Certifications are a universal sign to all of us that the person who is credentialed has made the extra effort to ensure that his or her skills are up to par. As consumers, we feel an extra measure of assurance when we do business with a certified professional, whether it's a doctor, accountant or plumber. (PPA)”
Photography is no different. The ability to claim the designation of Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) is a great benefit for my clients. Less than 4% of all registered members of PPA (Professional Photographers of America) are certified. In fact, I am one of two Certified Professionals in the 10 mile radius of my studio. Within 10 miles of my studio – there are a total of 68 registered members of PPA – that’s about 3% certified in just 10 miles! Something I’m quite proud of!
The continuing education gained through the certification process is very rewarding and challenging. It really tests your technical ability relating to all aspects of photography helping me be the best photographer I can be for you, my clients. Raising my standards to be a certified professional also improves the industry and raises standards of excellence across the board.
Thank you to all of you for your support on my journey….which has not ended yet!
